First of all, with DreamClass, apart from class and course tagging, you may also use tags to group almost all of your entities. More specifically, you may use tagging in the following ways:
Class tagging
You can use class tagging to group classes or courses entities, as needed. And by doing so, teachers and administrators will then be able to filter lists of classes and courses by tag. This way, you make it easier for them to find the classes they need, in seconds. It should be noted that, in some cases, DreamClass uses both the terms class and course interchangeably.
Here are a few examples of course tags you may use:
- teaching rotation tag
- required courses tag e.g. for courses required in all majors
- core courses tag
- department or institute electives tags
Another option is to group courses based on their credits points or units. You may also use labels related to the course content; or tags relevant to the academic discipline or program the course belongs to.
Use tagging to label the files you upload
In DreamClass, the tagging utility is also available in the file management section. And that means you may need to upload different types of files in your student or teacher profiles; such as proof of identity, proof of residence, certification of studies etc. Once you do so, you may label them with a specific tag — one you’ve already created — so that you make it easier to navigate through these files, when you need them.
Tagging notes related to courses
In a like manner, administrators or teachers may add notes on each one of the courses; and they can tag said notes with labels. For example, they may add notes related to procedural tasks related to a course, educational tasks, and so forth. Also, teachers may choose whether notes will be visible to students and/or administrators, or not; the same is true for administrators. When notes are shared, it’s easier to scan through the list of notes and find the ones they need with the help of color-coded tags.
Using tags in student notes
This type of tagging refers to the notes administrators and teachers may add on each one of the student profiles. Both types of users are able to choose whether these notes will be visible to students, or the other teachers and administrators. And using tags helps make information more comprehensive; and it gets easier for all parties to navigate through the notes and find exactly what they need.
Tagging teacher notes
In a similar fashion, administrators may add notes on each one of the teachers’ profiles, to manage them more efficiently. Tagging here helps monitor the notes added, quickly. For example, if you have that role in your school, you may add notes relevant to teacher payments and label them accordingly. Or you may add notes pertaining to teacher’s availability, to help make onboarding easier; and label them with easy-to-grasp tags.
